According to Nona's birth certificate, William was a clerk.

According to the 1910 and 1930 Censuses, William was an upholsterer at a store. Bill Litant clarified that William was really an interior decorator, but they didn't have that term in those days.

William was the brother of the famous Morris Troper. A lawyer, Morris was the Director General of the Joint Distribution Committee. He was played by Ben Gazzara in the Movie "Voyage of the Damned."1,12,13,14
