- Jack owned property in downtown Brooklyn. He also had a business
called Friedman & Friedman Restaurant Supplies in Brooklyn at Atlantic Avenue and Bond. Aside from selling papers in San Antonio when he was seven to help support the family after Nathan Friedman's death, Jack also ran with the B grade circuses - apparently he had some sort of carnival wheel - and he knew how to turn a buck. Gertie Friedman said the family would never know how much Jack was worth until after he was dead, and that was exactly what happened.
According to the 1920 Census, Jack lived at 242 Tomkins Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. He had a French servant named Angeline Thorte, who was born in 1877. His occupation was listed as electrician.
According to the 1930 Census, Jack lived at 5101 Snyder Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, and his occupation was listed as a merchant of office fixtures.
